Oasis’ latest album follows up on the success of their 2005 release “Don’t Believe the Truth” and once again places Oasis back in their home at the TOP of the charts. They have sold more than 50 million records worldwide and have had eight UK number-one singles.
Debut single “The Shock of the Lightning” with its psychedelic sounds (and video to match), quickly claimed the #3 position in the UK single charts. Says Noel Gallagher, “If ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ sounds instant and compelling to you, it’s because it was written dead fast. And recorded dead fast. ‘The Shock of The Lightning’ basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy. And there’s a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best.” All the album’s tracks were recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios; Don’t Believe the Truth’s producer Dave Sardy once more at the helm.
The new album (one of the ‘best albums of 2008’ according to publication NME) is critically acclaimed and provides a more groove oriented sound than their previous works. However, their live show provides nothing but the pure rock and roll enjoyment we have come to expect from them. With wildcard frontman Liam Gallagher leading the onstage antics, Oasis are acknowledged as delivering one of the best live performances there is.
The band have finished successful dates across North America, are currently on the road in Europe before coming to Asia and ultimately finishing their world tour in the UK this coming July with multiple concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Oasis will perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Sunday, 5th April 2009.
